General Motors new 1958 Chevy Bel Air was a real eye opener and that's a fact. Never had Chevrolet packed so much sharp engineering, so many advanced ideas, such stunning changes into one years progress. "You'll get that Chevy feeling - fast, when you discover how quickly and surely this car responds, how beautifully it behaves." said one 1958 Chevy ad. "You'll like being looked at in your beautiful '58 Chevrolet" said another.
The Bel Air was also a safe car for the public! Chevrolet was proud of their massive twin headlights which "on high beam they doubly pattern the road for safer driving at night". Safety plate glass throughout and wrap around front and rear windows gave better vision. Chevy called it "an all fender view for the driver - your picture window on wheels".
1958 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Hard Top Sport Coupe There were three hardtop's to choose from in 1958 (1) Impala (2) Belair Sport Sedan and (3) Belair Sport Coupe. All three were daringly low, wider and larger. Note, too, the sparkle of that full swept lance molding and anodized aluminum inserts.
The 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air two door sedan had new slim door pillars and sculpturamic styling. Customers had the look of a hard top at a sedan price. Both sedans had extra roominess and easy to reach space in the 25 cubic feet luggage trunk. An like all 1958 Chevrolet's, sedans had windows that wrap fully around for better vision.
